1275 6-blade plastic fan

I have an early 1275 in my car which has the 4-blade metal fan (two
pieces).
In stop-and-go traffic, my engine gets a little warm and I read that the
later 6-blade plastic fan works much better. Has anyone done this swap and
can confirm this?
