FWIW the now defunct Abingdon Classics Publication ran a comprehensive MGA
restoration guide starting with the October 1981 issue [preparation Ready
for Dismantling] through the December 1983 issue [Fitting a new folding top]
If you can get hold of those issues of Abingdon Classics there is a mine of
"how to" information.
