Newell,
   One way I've found to fit pesky rubber parts that supposedly "slip" into a
hole, such as bump rubbers, is with a piece of heavy twine.
   Wrap the twine around the grove in the rubber,leaving both ends free. Pass
the twin through the hole then lube the rubber lightly with a good rubber
lube. Then while applying pressure to the front of the rubber, pull the
twine/attachment cone through the hole. It may take a couple of trys, but it
will work.
