Hi all, I, too, have a backfiring problem. However, mine only occurs
while the engine is cold. Afterwards, I can accelerate and
change gears w/o the explosions when the clutch goes in.
I usually don't wind up the revs when the engine is cold and
don't get much if any backfiring.
Additionally, I have a manual choke conversion on my carburetor
         at the moment.
Does the air pump recommendation apply to my situation???
