what engine oil ?

Hi there,


I want to change the engine oil in my `72 Midget.
I have no idea what type the previous owner used
( synthetic or mineral and grade) and I wonder what 
I should go for. Saw the Magnatec ads on telly recently
and am asking myself whether it works and if it is worth it.

If I change should I flush the engine first ? What make should I
get? Synthetic or plain mineral ?
