engine protection while laid up

I have been fortunate to get a hold of a spare XPAG engine which has been
recently reconditioned. This I have acquired against the day - I hope in
the long distant future - that my in car engine may become unserviceable.

I hope that I will have this new engine in storage for many years during
which time I don't want it to become ruined through internal and/or
external rust, animals making their home in it, theft - you name it.

Ideas are sought for a failsafe storage system for this engine.
