The engine you have may be out of a Metro or an Austin A50/55 as they do not
have tachs. My own Austin is fitted with a 1500 as you have described, two
studs, no tach drive hole. I don't have a tach for my Austin, but the
location is being used. A ball socket for the column shift is attached to the
studs. The shifter has a cross-bar that pivots in the ball socket with ball.
The other end is supported by a cast piece bolted to the frame, so you may
well have an Austin engine.....good luck hope this helps..............roland

P.S. I have a question for the masses.......in the movie "The Birds", Tippi
Hedren is driving a 4 seater covertible to Bodega Bay, can anyone name the
car? I think it's a Healey, but a friend swears it's a Aston(?) Help settle
this....thanx......
