This is not the same type of fuel injection that you may be familiar with
seeing on gasoline engines.  Diesel fuel injection is high pressure (almost
instant) injection directly into the cylinders, with no spark required, as
ignition comes from the heat of the high compression ratio.  Lower
compression gasoline engines would have to retain the spark ignition system.
 Also, for gasoline,  the injector flow volume would have to be modified, not
an easy modification to a mechanical injector unit.  Diesel engines run with
wide open air intake, and all the throttling is done by adjusting the fuel
flow volume to the injectors.
