We finally got our A body back from the painter last week (been there since
June 1995). It is painted the original MG color Dove Grey and hand rubbed to a
fantastic gloss. It is beautiful and a real compliment getter, even in its
disassembled state. Glad we opted for this color. Will have pix on our page as
soon as possible.

I may have missed part of this thread but the grey color caught my eye. I
chose a light grey on my '66B (from parts). Not an original color, but one
I picked from the book of fleet colors at the paint shop. I was extremely
pleased with the outcome, done myself in acrylic laquer, and rubbed (by
hand) to a nice polish. I feel this color goes great against the chrome
trim, black soft trim, etc. and was always pleasently surprised at the
number of comments I received in parking lots and stop lights from total
strangers (a boost for my ego, car ran the same).
When I finshed the tank, etc. on my Norton motorcycle, I also used a grey
but went several shades darker this time. My wife says it looks like a
battleship (no..I did not return the compliment:), I'm afraid she might be
right, stick with lighter greys.
Am I alone in this or does anyone else out there prefer the look of a
paintjob without a clear coat?
