Yep, David lobbed his grenade in there and has gone AWOL now ...
For my part I viewed it as an attempt to motivate people, sadly it obviously
didn't have the effect he was hoping for.
For my part, I'm about to have to say a sad farewell to my 69 B Roadster due
to a fairly acute financial problem, suffice to say it was an unhappy
decision to make after the blood sweat and a few tears that went into it,
however I am not about to leave the fold quite yet as my local MG specialist
has located a 72 GT for me, so I go down this weekend to help put the
finishing touches to it, all in all a slightly bittersweet time...
To Barney, if you think you had it bad, you should have seen the highlights
of the RAC Rally last night, all the top drivers out on the first day in
humongous accidents on snow and ice, both the Toyota's, all the Subaru works
team, and a few Escort Cosworths, so we were treated to the site of Shwarz
in a Celica 4WD Turbo walk away with the race, with an unknown Japanese guy
in second driving for the first time on ice and snow, followed by Stig
Blomqvist in a...now wait for it... SKODA in third, a 1.3 bog standard
bloody Skoda, ahead of all kinds of immensely powerful, 4WD Turbo whatsits,
just goes to prove that sometimes skill really does prevail over technology :-)
The bummer of it all, they didn't show the Brittania Rally, which I always
used to enjoy in the Forests of home, its for pre '69 cars, a smattering of
B's, the odd A, some 911s and the beautiful sound, long before the car makes
an appearance of Cooper Minis with straight cut gearboxes, ahhhh takes me
back :-)))
