how about taking a splined hub and welding it to one of those space saver
wheels???  kind of gets you everything you want.  Just be sure of:
1)concentricity.... so the hub is exactly centered
2) wheel backspacing...  so that the wheel is properly spaced from the
suspension and body

Any race team should be able to do the necessary welding and fabrication at
little cost.  It wont be pretty, but hidden in the trunk 99% of the time, who
cares?
