My '73 MGB was made in October of '72. I believe it is still proper to call a
'73.
It was just an early '73. It's serial number is GHN5UD299009G. Using Victoria
British's catalog  "What year is your car"? they claim GHN5UD294251 was the
first '73, therefore my car was likely the 4,758 '73 car made. My McComb book
shows about 45,000 '73's were made, with '72 being the biggest year of just
over 55,000.

VB claims the first '68 was GHN4U13138401. I'm sorry that I deleted your post
before writing this. What was your VIN #? If it was after GHN4U13138401, it
likely IS a '68.
It looks like they made about 37,500 '68's and about 29,000 in '67.

My number of cars per year is coming off of a graph, so my numbers aren't
exact. Does anyone have any better ones?
