Break-in RPM

I was told to gently bring rev's up to 2000 then gently
return to idle then gently like with an egg under foot
rev to 2000 then gently return to idle then gently rev to
2000 then gently return to idle for 20-30 minutes. This
was to avoid a particular pattern of wear that might
develope at one rpm.
