In regards to the rubber bump-stops, when I replaced mine I also found it
difficult. I used some Armor All on the inside of the bump stop and worked it
on in a circular motion. Good luck.

Subject: Rubber Bumpers and Check Straps

While replacing the rear springs on my '70B I noticed that one of the
rubber bumpers that check the suspension travel was missing. I received a
new one from Moss but because of the impossibility of getting it on the
stud had to slit it and then use the sealer that came with the dash overlay
to seal it back. It seems tight but I will probably lose it in somebodies
grill sooner or later. Anybody have suggestions on how to properly install
these things?

Also, in a fit of stupidity I sheared not one but both of the bolts that
are attached to the axle that hold the check straps. The straps are still
pretty tight laterally, but they too will probably break loose sometime in
the future. The only way I can figure to fix it would be to drill and tap
into the ends of the sheared bolts and screw in smaller bolts and washers.
The frustration factor on that job seems rather high. Any other ideas?
