Minutes of August 14th MG Council Meeting

The MG Council of North America met on Thursday, August 14, 1997 at the
Hilton Inn, Grand Rapids, Michigan in conjunction with University Motors
Summer Party.

Ron Embling, Convener opened the meeting with introductions. All the
major
MG Registers were represented as well as several MG clubs. Nick Cox,
North
American representative of the MGCC brought greetings.

Old Business:

                              MG 2001

Selecting a site for the MG 2001 from the two sites proposed:
Atlanta, GA. and St. Paul, MN. Both groups prepared well-developed
proposals siting their particular strengths. Following a complete
discussion, the question was called. Representatives of the 4
Registers,
NEMG'T'R, NAMGAR, AMGCR, NAMGBR voted 3 to 1 in favor of Atlanta, Ga. A
letter will be sent to each informing them of the vote and thanking them
for their proposal. Representatives of the 4 Registers will get
together
with people from the host city to develop a leadership structure for MG
2001. $2500 in seed money has been set aside from MG Indy '96 to get MG
2001 underway.

New Business:
                              JOINT REGISTER ADVERTISING

John Twist working with John Libbert (NAMGAR) and Hank Rippert
(NEMG'T'R) proposed a joint ad for all the Registers to be run in
Hemmings Motor News, British Car and Road & Track's new magazine
Classics. John Libbert will take care of the ad placement in the
magazines, Hank Rippert will prepare
the type set copy and Ron Embling will send ad slicks to all the local
MG
newsletters editors.

                                 MG GUIDE BOOK

Jerome Rosenberger brought up the idea of the Registers getting together
and preparing a MG Guide listing MG enthusiasts, MG clubs and officers
and
MG Service & Suppliers. It would be given out free or at a nominal
cost.
The idea was discussed and tabled for further consideration.

                               NUFFIELD CUP FOR 1997

The awarding of the Nuffield Cup for 1997, given by the MGCC to the
outstanding MG clubs in North America was discussed. Nick Cox
recommended
that it be presented to the Northwest MG club in October, 1997 as they
celebrate their 40th anniversary as a club and chapter of the MGCC.
Nick
will pick up the Nuffield Cup from the 1996 recipient, Hoosier MG Club
and
present it to the Northwest MG Car Club.
