On Jeremy Clarkson's Motor World a while back he was in a taxi at night
out in the countryside (no street lights). They approached a pair of
headlights on full beam and was surprised when the taxi driver slowed to
a crawl to pass them, even more surprised when they came up behind a car
with no rear lights - the two drivers had stopped for a chat. "How did
you know?" he asked the taxi driver!!! Probably explains why so many
people have "accidents" that they always blame on the other driver.

In Portugal a few years ago a local told us that the reason there were
so many accidents on blind bends was that was the only time that an
overtaking driver couldn't see any oncoming traffic.
