Crooked wheels?

Well, if you read my previous post, you know the '72 B is down again.
One thing I noticed before it quit was that my front-end shimmy is
still bothering me. I replaced the A-arms and the rear springs, had
the tires balanced and rotated, and had the front end aligned. Still
there about 65 mph or so.
The wheels/tires balanced fine on the balancer, but is it possible
that they are out-of-round? Am I correct in assuming that the
balancer has no idea what shape the tire is, as long as all the
weight is distributed evenly around the hub? It seems to me that the
tires could be square, and the balancer wouldn't care, as long as it
was symmetrical.
When I get the car running again, I'll switch the back tires with
the front, and see if it makes a difference. 25-year old rostyles
may just not be doing the trick.
Has anyone else had bad suspension shimmies go away after fitting
new wheels and tires, even though the old wheels/tires balanced fine
on the balancer?
Thanks,
Scott
