I am sure that Adrian has his Midget together by now but for future
reference: Befor you read this, please understand that I do not recomend
these techniques unless they are they are for temporary repair only. I
don't wand to be know as "the father of all DPO's"

I have often fixed stripped threads by putting in the next length longer
bolt. This will often reach the good threads past the end of the old bolt
and allow careful tightening.

I have also had some luck with putting a piece of soft wire through the
bolt hole before starting the bolt. Lead solder is too soft but copper
would probably work OK with aluminum.

Now just because have pretty good knowledge of these less than optimal
repairs, don't label me as a hack mechanic (although it may fit in some
cases). On the farm my parents were big auction fans and almost took pride
in the being able to harvest with the oldest, most decrepit machinery
available. We had a machine shop but nonetheless, you don't put ten hours
transport/dissassembly plus two hours of machine time into a corn planter
that you paid 5 bucks for. You just do whatever is necessary to get the
corn in and hope you can find a better one before next season. I do not
treat my LBC that way- at least not any more. Most of the time. Besides,
I no longer have a back 40 full of donors.
