My questions therefore are as follows:
 - how would one wire such an indicator/warning light into one's OD circuit?
*** Tap anywhere after the switch for 12V supply to a lamp. I don't think
that it would draw that much current so I don't thin you have to worry too
much about it. you can get a spade type connector that is structured like a
Y and connect that to the 3rd/4th lockout to supply you with a terminal for
connection. Depending on what you want you can connect it before or after
the 3rd/4th lockout switch. After whould tell you when power was running to
the od coil and would tell you when the od should be engaged. Putting it
before the switch would tell you when you have flipped the switch for the od
regardless if the od is actually getting power. If you forget to take it out
of od and coast to a stop at a light the light will still be lit telling you
that as soon as you shift from 2nd to 3rd the od is going to kick in. If you
don't downshift into 2nd and discover that you were in od this will let you
know as you shift back up that the switch is still in the on position

 - where would one find a jewelled glass lamp (like the hi beam & alt) in
say, green?
***Auto parts stores carry a few models. You might check another model year
B for a switch that might look right. I'm sure that summit racing would have
a few to choose from. You can also check radio shack.
