First off, congrats on your new list! I'm a MGB/TR6/Mini/Rover fan that
has recently been sidetracked with a Datsun 510 that I'm planning on
autocrossing. I figured that my LBCs are *too valuable* to take out to
the track. Hey, 510s are a dime a dozen (but fun too!)
I recently surveyed the british-car and mg list to see what interest
there was in high quality, moderately priced fibreglass replacement
bonnets and wings (fenders!) Of all the respondents, 90% were ALL
spridget owners!
I have located a *pristine* Midget bonnet and it is currently in the
shop of Quik Skins (a fibreglass manufacturer that currently specializes
in 510 racing parts) being readied as a mold for new Midget fibreglass
bonnets!
Production is scheduled for the middle of December, 1997. The bonnet
will bolt-on to Spridget, using the existing holes and stock hinges.
Holes for the hinges will be backed by 1/4" aluminum flat stock and
drilled and tapped for mounting bolts. Original hardware from your
existing bonnet will bolt-on to this fibreglass replacement panel.
The bonnets will sell for $200.00 each, plus boxing and FedEx charges
(and 7.25% sales tax for CA residents). I am taking deposits of $20.00
to reserve a place in line. Complete satisfaction is guaranteed! The
Quik Skins name is well known in the Datsun 510 marketplace. If the
response is good, owner Joe Vondracek plans on making 'glass replacement
bolt-on fenders for Spridgets, too.
