I do apologise Simon, you're quite correct - the Channel Islands are a 
dependant territory of the British Crown. Sadly for car enthusiasts, they 
have a blanket 30mph speed limit - bit of a bummer.

In contrast, the Isle of Man (which is different to the C.I. in that it 
has its own parliament, but is a British island }-I  ) has NO speed 
limits outside towns and villages. Maybe that's why Nigel Mansell has a 
house there.

Northern Ireland (where my wife is from and a wonderful place), has the 
same speed limit as England, but the locals choose to ignore it! :-)
