Hi, Terry.  I just removed the I.D. plate from my Healey engine, and I
suspect your rivets are the same as mine: they  have a long, lazy spiral
thread.  I filed a slot in the heads and used a small flat-blade
screwdriver like an impact driver, but rather than smack it, I just tapped
it with a hammer while keeping "remove" torque on the screwdriver.  I
didn't think this was going to work, but they backed right out with no
problem.  Hope you have as much luck as I did!  I got my replacement "drive
rivets" from Norman Nock, British Car Specialties (Stockton, CA).  (209)
948-8767.  You just tap them back in with a hammer.

I understand that there is a source for I.D. plates (in Pennsylvania, I
believe), but I don't have the name or address handy.  I'm sure someone
else will, though.
