A friend and I undercoated his truck with rubberized undercoat two
years ago.
We went over everything with a wire brush to ensure cleanliness, then we used
about
$30 worth of undercoating on the frame, floor, and other area, being sure to
thoroughly cover everything as per the manufacturer's instructions. One year
later,
we could hardly find a trace of the rubberized stuff! I don't think it adheres
as
well as the factory stuff. I have heard of people getting good results with
tar
asphalt sealant. YMMV. I dunno how well it works either.
You might want to make sure you have clean metal, and then give it a
coat or
two of rustoleum. That's what I'm doing with my MGB, since I can't afford to
have it
powder coated or whatever. I don't see why that wouldn't stop rust, especially
if you
have clean metal...Anyway, good luck!
