At a Chevy/GMC truck meet a few years ago they took a few un-usable engines and
made a couple of "games":

1) Timed blown head gasket "repair". (start with items treaded hand-tight
only):
Remove spark plugs, remove valve cover, remove cyl head (use only 4 head studs
with no nuts), remove push-rods, remove head gasket. THEN: "Assembly is the
reverse of the above..." It's fun to watch folks trying to do things twice as
fast using both hands. The judge should remember to check the "hand-tightness"
of the sparkplugs before the next round begins so each 'mechanic' starts
equally. Subtract points for parts leftover or crossthreaded.

2) Cylinder "ring-toss": Place a bare block on the ground about 6 - 10 feet
from
the tosser. Toss rubber balls trying to get them into the cylinder bores.
Points
awarded for total number sucessful. You could divide this into age catagories
so
kids can win.

3) The slow race mentioned in another post is a good idea, little hazard of
over
zealous contestants causing damage and mayhem. (At the truck meet a guy with an
Army 6X6 would put his gearbox in low-low-low, let out the clutch at idle
speed,
get out of the cab, and then stroll on ahead to wait for his truck to creep its
way to the finish line...)

4) "Poker Runs" are popular. Entrants chip in a set amount to play (say 1
dollar
each). They then follow a set route stopping at a specified number of stops
(give maps or have signs posted enroute). At each stop they are given one
playing card. After everyone has finished the route, the winner (the best poker
hand) gets 1/2 the pot and the club (or a charity) gets the other 1/2. You will
need club members stationed at each stop to pass out the cards. (I think we
used
a full deck at each stop...) Be sure to choose stops where a back-up of cars
won't be dangerous (empty parking lots).

5) The blind-folded driver (as mentioned in the other post) was funny until one
husband turned right as his wife was yelling LEFT and they crunched a fender of
a parked, fully restored 50's pick-up. Lots of angry feelings and never seen
again members... So make sure the area is well cleared or have lots of
insurance.

P.S. You should have asked for ideas about using cats to play Frank Zappa tunes
while drinking beer... THEN you would have gotten *lots* of replies!!

CLICK....Soap box mode...ON

Why is it that we can get wrapped up in off topic ideas, but yet when a fellow
enthusiast asks for some input on MG games, he gets only 4 responses...and 3
of those involved the senseless, and environmentally ill advised beating of
other British Iron?

Two Weeks ago, I asked for the help of the list to give me ideas for MG Event
games that could be included in a Funkhana type of event.....to which I
received the aforementioned responses....the lack of real help (exception here
was Bob Noguera) is astonishing....
I'd still like to solicit this list for game (not the type you hunt with all
that knockdown power) ideas....any input?

Soap box mode... OFF....
