Barchetta literally means "little Boat" and refers to an open =
two-seater. I think the term first came into use in the mid-fifties. I =
guess it roughly translates to "roadster"  So there were several =
Barchettas from several Italian automakers. I don't know if any but the =
modern Fiat used it as an official model name.=20

I was thinking of something much older, but I was wondering what they =

those Fiat/Alfa roadsters that I saw in Germany last fall (they were =

I saw a photo of it a long time ago and thought "ahh! So THAT's a 'red
barchetta'!" It was a roadster that looked somewhat Ferrari-esque, late =
50's
or early 60's vintage, I think. I'll search the 'net and see if I can =

something.
