Yo Mike,
They are primarily concerned that you don't leave a mess in the paddock or
a puddle on the starting line. If your car leaves a two inch puddle of oil
evey place you stop, someone is likely to get concerned. At the very least
they will track you down just to ask you if you know that it's your car
that's leaking. A few drips here and there are not likely to bother
anyone, especially if you mop up after yourself at the end of the day.
I've never actually seen anyone get tossed over this problem (at least not
at local events), even with a fairly serious oil leak. If you bring it to
their attention early, they are likely to make some "special arrangements".
Like they may ask you to park it in the grass rather than on an asphault
pavement. Also expect to be staged a little to one side while awaiting
your turn, and you may be asked not to spend too much time sitting directly
on the starting line. It's just a matter of common sense and curtousy not
to leave an oil slick where it would bother someone else.
In short, just keep smiling and be cooperative and agreeable with whatever
arrangements they want to make for you. If it's a particularly bad leak,
they may well ask you to get it fixed before the next event. Most clubs
would rather have your attendance than bad press. OTOH, if your car dumps
a cup of oil or a quart of antifreeze where someone would be bothered by
it, you might well be asked to take you car somewhere else (maybe somewhere
unmentionable).
