        The point of using a 6 point socket is indeed a good point to
make. It is a rare instance that anything other than a 6 point socket
shoud be used. A 12 point will ruin a nut a fast as you can loosen it. A
good set of 3/8 inch 6 point sockets will do 99 percent of the time. As
far as extensions go cheap ones will do the same job as expensive ones. I
buy the extensions from HarborFreight (a whole set costs $10) and my
sockets from Sears. Harbor Freight also has a nice universal set 3/4 and
3/8 for about $5 dollars. What makes then nice is they have a ball and
socket that stops them from flopping around. Since they are made for an
impact gun they should hold up to anything that you might do to them.
