If you're disassembling and rebuilding the whole hydraulic system, flush
the disassembled parts with denatured alcohol. Don't use rubbing alcohol;
it has stuff in it that will leave a residue. Either blow dry with an air
hose, or allow LOTS of time for air drying before reassembly.
If you're hoping to flush the system without disassembling everything,
don't use alcohol. You probably won't be able to get it all out, and any
remnants in the system will do nasty things to your braking. Instead, pump
out as much of the old fluid as possible, then pump copious amounts of new
fluid through the system and out the bleeder screws. Once the fluid
exiting the bleeders shows no sign of grungey old fluid, bleed normally to
make sure all air is out of the system.
