Enrique aked about removing and replacing the vent window glass. I recently
replaced one of the vent rubber seals on my 69 Rdstr. To remove the vent glass
you need to undo the bottom pivot pin. With the door panel off you can see it
easily. It has a spring to provide pivot tension and a nut on the bottom. A
piece of advice: have a repalcement pivot pin (Moss 458-710) on hand, because
it will snap off where the pivot pin meets the vent frame. To replace the pin
if you do snap it off you must remove the glass from the chrome frame, which
is easy, because now the pin is laying in the bottom of the door, and the vent
window lifts right out. The glass removal is not difficult, but scary for fear
of breaking the glass. Use a small, but sturdy flat blade screw driver and
gently work the frame away from the glass. When it is out you can see that the
top of the pivot pin is flat instead of round. The reduction in cross
sectional area here means that it will shear easily if too much torque is
applied, which is what happens when one attempts to remove a 30 yr. part. I
learned all this first hand, being a bit heavy handed in such matters. With
the glass out the old rubber seal is removed (even an very old one is a
b*tch)and a new rubber seal can be worked into the frame slot (with some soapy
water, silicone spray, and bad language). You should replace the glass setting
or use silicone seal.On reassembly you can adjust the tension on the pivot
spring to help hold the vent window open when you want it open, but dont over
do it! It all goes back toegether much easier than it comes apart, except for
