MG a Chick Magnet? ABSOLUTELY!!
When I was living at home, you wouldn't believe how many girls lost all
sense looking at my Dad's '47 TC (and went out with me as a result). I've
observed similar female responses to my '77 Midget, so SOMEthing in the
female psyche resonates to MGs, and has remained constant over 30 years of
styling changes.
Does it happen with other kinds of sports cars? Yes, but each seems to
attract a different personality among women. (I assume that the same thing
happens with men, but I have less natural curiosity about that phenomena.
<grin>) Of course, since I managed to land the perfect woman about 16
years ago, it has become merely a matter of curiosity.
I've even gone to the point of actually asking what it is about the car (or
the assumption they make about the owner/driver) that makes it so
appealing. Responses have varied, but generally included some combination
of a man who is romantic and fun-loving, but still gentleman enough to take
home to Momma.
A whole new meaning to "Safety Fast"? <grin>

Maybe times have changed but in the Seventies I had no luck attracting the
opposite sex with the B. In Northern Minnesota it was just a strange old
car. But then again if I had done a better job of getting the grease off
my hands, the machine oil out of my clothes, and the cowsh*t off my boots
maybe the results would have been different. Who knows.
BTW the person who finally decided to put up with me for life did so even
though my daily driver was a 74 Datsun 610 coupe painted primer brown with
a roof rack, no muffler to speak of, and wool blankets tied over the seats
for seat covers. Needless to say, we drove her car on most dates. The
machine oil and grease were still there but by then I had lost the cowsh*t.
By this time aromatic stimuli was provided almost exclusively by stale
beer.
