It was great meeting everyone at MG98. Too bad I was only there for the
saturday show.
One addendum to Mike's excellent report is that there were (counted 'em)
TWELVE identical black '80 LEs! One was owned by fellow Louisville club
members Don and Barb Minnich, and I joked that "gee, these things are truly
a 'dime a dozen', huh?"
I have to second the comment on the factory V8 -- what an awesome car! The
owner was very friendly and readily let me get inside to take some pics. It
was a "right hooker" that the guy bought in England and shipped over. I'm
glad to hear the Black Tulip '73 won -- they deserved it! David Deutsch and
I had a quick puzzlement over a '69 B that had low-back leather seats, banjo
steering wheel and steel wheels - going for the "retro" look, I suppose.
I found a clutch kit for $60, which was a pretty good deal. And the tech
session on top installation gave me a warm and fuzzy that it ain't that hard
to DIY.
The list hat definitely helps identify fellow listers, so get your hats,
folks! If the army doesn't move me before the summer of '00, I'll DEFINITELY
have the B in Cleveland! (Vancouver is just a tad outta the way, I'm
afraid.) It's just not as much fun if you haven't driven your MG to a show
like that.
