In my experience, I think it only takes three.  One runner and one parts
car is easily explainable to most people.  Any more than that, and they
don't understand (unless they have the illness too).  

Hey, most people don't understand why I need six vehicles for two
licensed drivers anyway (two are currently not running, and one has been
loaned out - Yikes!  I'm down to three - better go buy another).
