Triumph in the UK use to market a smart little car, called the VITESSE,
based on the humble 948cc Herald. This Vitesse had a six cylinder 1600cc
Vangard engine in it, putting the fan right up against the radiator, as
the engine bay was so short, ( a similar car sold in the USA was the
Triumph GT6, using all the saloon bits and calling it a sports car, even
down to the swing-axle rear suspension, later improved.) Anyway, if the
engine mounting were a bit soft, you could bang on the ( disc) brakes in
an emergency, and the fan went through the radiator like Dastardly and
Mutley. Cuts a real clean hole...........8" diameter.

The ZA/ZB Magnette suffers the same fault if you fit a 1789cc MGB engine
using the long nosed MGB water pump, it all ends up very
close............
