I'll tell you I feel extremely lucky when it comes to motor vehicle
inspections. After readfing some of the horror stories on the list, I will
never complain about Massachusettes again.
Inspection is all visual, they don't remove wheels (as a rule), and
emmissions are cut and dried pre 1975 no check, post 1975 they are checked
and compared to the posted standard! If you fail emmissions you have 21 days
to fix it and return for recheck. If you fail safety (shame on you) you
technically can't drive the car until repaired.
Inspections are conducted at car dealer service centers and service (gas)
stations. The cost, the princley sum of $15.00! I believe the state
receives $3.00 and the inspector receives $12.00. This all takes about 15
minutes!!
So for all those folks out there that hve to make appointments etc to get
the annual inspection, I do feel for you, but like I said I will count my
blessings on this one!
