Dave -

It WOULD be a Spitfire engine, if it started with FM instead of FP.  The
1500 Spitfire engines ran from FM1UE to FM168502UE.  The same blocks
destined for 1500 Midgets were stamped with a serial number in the same
series starting with FP (i.e successive blocks coming off the line might
be FM1001UE, FP1002UE, FP1003UE, FM1004UE, etc.)
