Recap - Emma, 72 MGB, stored for 10 years, back on the road.

Ah, the MG experience! Driving through Appalachia as the leaves turn
color. Cornering with the top down, the wind nipping my ears. Smoothly
shifting up and down, and listening to the lovely sound of my engine as I
motor along in sheer bliss. *Cough* Whats this? My car has a "cough"?
*cough cough* I'm losing power! *cough cough ungh umph errr* The
crushing sound of silence...

I coast over into a driveway, knock on the door to apologize for presuming,
and then lift the hood. Nothing awful to be seen... I look, poke, prod,
feel, and then sit back in the drivers seat to ponder. And as I ponder, I
turn the key to "on", and I hear silence. No *tick tick* as the fuel pump
pressurizes the line. So, I pull the line off of the fuel filter, and turn
the key. No fuel...

Out with the spanners, wiggle under the rear, and disconnect the fuel line
inlet to the pump. Attach a length of 1/4" tubing, and blow. WOW! Thats
plugged! Finally, it blows clear, and I drop the level of the hose to
start the flow. The fuel is dark brown with rust and stuff...

But I had drained the tank, and half filled it, and sloshed the car back
and forth as hard as I could, and did that several times until it ran
clear! Oh well, think on it later... Problem solved, I reconnected the
fuel line, and got back on the road.

AH, the MG experience! Smoothly cornering, wind in my hair, listening to
the soft purr of the engine... listening to the ... awful, terrible, sudden
silence.

Under the tail, again. Two miles closer to home. Under the tail, again.
Finally, I make it home.

AH, the MG experience. *rueful grin*

So, the question is this... what do I do now? Do I drain the tank, slosh,
drain, slosh, drain, and hope? Or do I pull the tank, clean it, use acids,
use solvents, steam, etc? Or what?

A .sig is static My life is dynamic. I can't think of a single
quote or witty saying that expresses the mercurial nature of the changes in
my life. The only constants in my life are stress, my loving wife, and
the weekly hairball my cat leaves on the carpet.
