Neil,
   You didn't miss by much.  What's missing is the volume
from the top of the piston to the bottom of the dish the piston head, plus the 
volume from the top of the piston to the top of the block at TDC (deck height) 
plus the volume of the compressed height of the head gasket. When you factor in 
all these little extras and add them to the chamber volume before dividing into 
the swept volume you'll get the CR you're looking for.
