Thanks everyone for the advice on the guage. Had a Second look at the
temp guage yesterday , decided can't drive without a working guage, daily
driver into the city in peak hour. Spoke to a local guage repairer, said
it would cost between 80 and 100, and take a couple of days. As the car is
used everday that was not an option, so spoke to a couple of specialist,
was quoted 130 change over, and they had one in stock, so I bit the bullet
and decided to fit it myself, it is christmas and money is short(isnt it
always). so I spent my RDO with my wrist in strange contortions getting
the guage in and out of the dash, and trying to work out the spaghetti
under their, man has someone had fun with some insulation tape and spare
wire's under their. I should fix that on of these days, but hay it aint
broke why fix it.

Whilst speaking of the spaghetti under the dash, I went go-carting
monday night at one of those 30 bucks for 30 minutes (boy those 2 stroke
karts move, 88 KPH, 2 Inches from the ground, WOO HOO), while I was out
on the track, some of the spectators were looking at my car. I thought
cool, but when i went to leave, no headlights, I had everything else just
no headlights, spent half an hour scratching around the wiring loom,
couldn't find anything, so followed my mate to his house about 1/4 hour
away using his headlights, pitch dark, no streetlights, back country roads.
Made it their in one peice, beat the s@#t out of mate for driving a 65-70
MPH with me trying to keep up. Went out and had a look next morning, Some
guy must have decided to try out the car for size, and stuck his size 9
hoof in the wiring loom under the dash and pulled out two of the wires to
the dip switch, wich I didn't see in the dark. Plugged the wires back in
and WOW, lights.

Moral of the above story:- Keep an eye on the spectators, and get a bigger
torch.

Merry christmas
Neil
