Hello all,
Well, school is over for the season and I made it home alive, despite
the
intentions of mother nature and some lady in a Suburban...I was on the PA
turnpike, in the mountains, when it started to snow. For all of you who
recommended getting a second heater in the MG - I will! The dusting piled
up pretty quickly, and I found myself sloshing through an inch or two of
lying snow. The MGB does really well in the the snow, but some lady in a
Suburban thought it would be cool to scare the snot out of me - she went
flying past me at about 70mph and tried to swerve to avoid some road
debris. Instant fishtailing, which was fortunately brought under control
within a few feet, but I couldn't help but giggle at how fast she put down
that damn cell phone!
No LBC sightings on the road, but that '73 parts car I posted about a
few
months ago is still sitting there, if anyone's interested...
The 'B did very well, as usual, and will now get some new parts. I have
new steering ball joints to install, a rebuild for the clutch hydraulics,
and most importantly, new U-joints for the driveshaft. A friend
recommended that I take my entire driveshaft to Pep Boys and have them
install the new joints at about $10 per joint. From what I read in Haynes,
the job can be done by a novice. Should I do it myself, or would I be
better off to trust someone else to do it for me? Are there any tips for
the job? Thanks in advance for any advice; and yes, I know how to
disconnect the driveshaft! 8-)
