Sounds like the "SIDE LOCATING BRACKET" (ILL# 7) on page 59 of 1998
Fall edition of Victoria British catalog. That is what mine looks
like (70B) and catalog shows that it fits 62-80 Bs and Cs. My hardtop
does not have a ring. It has a L shaped bracket like the one shown
in Vicky Brit catalog. I did not find the locating bracket in the
Moss catalog (MGB08.pdf).
