The "crack of doom" is what I originally was told was the "mg crack". It's
because of the design that many MG's develop cracks in the metal on the door
right
next to the mirror. If you have a floppy mirror (mine is continually loosening
up), then it causes stress on the upper outer door skin and hence the tear in
the
metal.

So I'll play newbie and ask about YMMV... I've been a computer nerd/geek for
over
ten years and know most of the geekspeak, but I'm afraid to ask such an
established group :)

And now for a driving story...

This weekend I went on a journey from the San Francisco Bay Area (almost said SF
Bay) to Lake County up north - going to attempt the 101 Lakes Challange that I
read about. This is a new-to-me 79 B that has spent the better part of the last
two months in the shop - new head gasket, new catalytic converter, misc hoses
and
belts, seats, carpet, trunk kit, tires, and top. Anyway, the car purred like a
kitten the whole trip and purred some more today when I went South about 50
miles
and back. Then, this afternoon I drive less then a block to 7-Eleven to get an
icee.

First off, the icee machine wasn't working, then, I went to get into the car to
head back home (this was really just an excuse to drive some more you see) and
the
car won't start. I know it's not the battery because the lights are coming on
and
so is the fan, but the car isn't even turning over - just like a dead battery.
I've decided that it's the distributor cap, but I guess I'll have to wait until
tomorrow.

The funny part is that I was laughing (LOL=Laughing out Loud)because all I could
think about was how I'd NEVER tell the list that I might have the car towed ;)
