Just recovered the dash in my '70 BGT and reinstalled the gauges.
Everything works fine with the exception of the tach. Now when I turn
the key to the run position the tach jumps to redline and stays there
until I engage the starter circuit, after which it works fine. (I don't
believe this is 'sposed to happen, but then, it is an MG ;>). This is a
simple hook-up with keyed connectors so I KNOW the leads to the tach
aren't reversed. My knowledge of the functioning of electrical tachs is
zilch. Anybody care to take a stab?

The mechanical tachs in my Triumphs work fine. (obligatory Triumph
content)
