What did I coat the inside of the tank with? What was it coated with
originally? I don't think the tanks had any sort of coating when they were
new, so I sprayed the inside of mine with WD40 to absorb any remaining
moisture and then filled it with gas.

But on some of the motorcycle tanks I have worked with I used an
industrial, farm supply product (again, name and make unknown) that was an
MEK based lacquer that has done fine on the tanks I used it on. I think
another Lister mentioned a similar product. On a tank a number of years
ago I tried a creme based product that was probably similar to the Eastwood
coating. It was 3 part, a cleaner, an etching solution and a coating. It
peeled off in about a year.

I think if my Tr***ph tank lasted 30 years with out a coating, until I
cleaned it out last month, as long as I keep it full of gas, rust should
not be the problem.

good luck
