Thanks to all for the words of encouragement... you'll all be happy to know
that we (me and the 'B) made it to OKC and in fact somehow managed to snag
3rd place in RBB's!!!! I certainly don't think I deserved such an award (I
kept the bonnet closed), but I did really appreciate it. That emergency kit
I won in the raffle was certainly MOST appropriate and maybe by having that,
I can insure myself from needing it... <knock on wood>
Special list hats off (mine is on order) to Dick Watson for providing me
with a humourous t-shirt which I am wearing as I type. My favourite line on
the shirt is - More Guiness, because I certainly needed it at 9pm Friday
night when I finally pulled into OKC!
Yes, I know that most of the items were regular maintenance items... my
frustration was in having just paid someone $1100 supposedly to fix those
very items. I did learn several things from this whole experience. Never
go back to the mechanic I used in S. San Fran and it's time for me to invest
in some Twist classes instead of just reading the Haynes manual.
The overheating back in ABQ right before I left was so obvious looking
back. In fact, I think this was the very first problem I had with my first
'B 15 years ago -- A sticking thermostat which has now been replaced with a
165F thermo. :)
Tomorrow we make the trip back to Albuquerque... heading towards NAMGAR in
Tahoe!
