Congrats.
On my A, someone had replaced one front spring with one about 1 1/2" too
long and it had the effect you describe.
Also, bad shocks leak. Clean up around their bases, fill them and,
probably (unless the last guy replaced them), clean up around their
bases again untill you replace them.
(Limited experience but 75% through a frame off restoration.)
