Dennis,
Having just recently done this on a 69B, I think I used the rear exhaust
manifold stud and the alternator bracket bolt hole on the front. I removed the
exhaust manifold stud and screwed a bolt into the stud hole to use. I did the
same for the alternator bracket bolt (i.e. used a different bolt so as to not
gaul up the one I need..) Just attach the chain and washers to the bolt before
screwing into the hole. It really helps to have one of those 'winding' leveling
devices on the engine hoist to help angle the engine to get the tranny to clear
the engine bay. I think I also put the back of the car up on jack stands to
help getting the engine/tranny out.
Also something that really helps is to take a lot of pictures of the engine bay
before anything is disconnected. Helps for re-connecting some of those
hoses/throttle-choke linkages etc. when the engine's been out for 3-4
weeks.(Where/how did this go again??..)

Good luck!

I'm about ready to pull my engine and transmission on the 71 B, any
suggestions on as to where to hook the chain onto the engine? First
time for me to pull an engine.
