Just slap that devil off your right shoulder! If you were pragmatic, you 
wouldn't own an MGB!

I stripped mine down to the bare shell and restored each of the 
sub-assemblies as I went. This helped avoid loosing parts (as of this date, 
I have no "now where does this go?" parts at all).

I'm doing the bodywork myself, because I question the value of having a 
professional do it. Sure, he'll do a much, much, much, much better job than 
me, but chances are it would be cheaper to buy a good quality car that's 
ready to go. I think you can find a really nice 'B for $10K. I've already 
spent over $7K on mine and it's still in pieces. I'm in this for the fun.

But I guess the point is moot...you already own the car.

I do have to ask one thing, are you sure that all you need is a paint job? 
What is the condition of the sills? The safety of the car depends on their 
integrity. If they need to be replaced, the interior will have to be 
removed, at least.
