Hi All, thanks for the replies...

Rex's rear brakes are adjusted OK so it looks like air in the system. I
have a vague memory of having to kick the pedal hard to dislodge the
bubbles in my other B. 
However, moving house in 12 days so I'll live with it for now.....
BTW, one thing I'd forgotten-aren't B's fun :-)
