My money is on a bad ignition condenser, but in that model year I think you
have to change the amplifier. And considering the cost of that item
(ouch), I'm glad my MG is a little older and uses contact points and a
discrete condenser. Otherwise you might get lucky and find a loose wire
somewhere.
