I don't know if I've mentioned this or not but I've talked to Jack Knight
Developments about the feasibility of using their Twin Cam Mini head on
other A series cars, like the Sprite and Midget. Why? (they said they see
no reason why it wouldn't work)
Well how would you like a 1275cc engine which puts out 170 horsepower? It
is a four valve per cylinder monster that can either be fed by Webers or
JKD's own Throttle Bodies. The kicker is that the Weber fed motor only
makes ~100 horsepower, it is the petrol injection that makes the 160
horsepower!
Its a tad bit expensive, what do you expect from a company who also does
Formula One consulting, about $5500 for the bare head and a $7000 with the
petrol injection setup. Couple that with one of the many five speed boxes
and you could have a real quick and fast little roadster.
And yes, the JKD cylinder head is suitable for the road. Rover even
produced a limited edition mini which used the head and JKD's own Mini 5
speed gearbox.
BTW, Kelvin... I think you would have more success using a bunch of
solenoids to make up a VVC valve train for the MGB than using a Twin Cam MGA
head. Or get JKD to do you up an DOHC MGB head!
Lastly, the DCOE throttle bodies are used quite often on the TR6s. Coupled
with a Cannon or Pierce triple Weber DCOE manifold. And a fellow in NJ even
produces a full electronic petrol injection setup for the TR6, $2200...
although he uses his own manifold and throttle bodies.
